Rotary Crossflow Ceramic Disk Filtration Skid

Rotary Crossflow Ceramic Disk Filtration Skid

  • The Rotary Crossflow Ceramic Disk Filtration System is a compact skid-mounted microfiltration unit designed for challenging solid–liquid separation applications. By combining rotating ceramic membrane disks with crossflow filtration, the system generates strong shear forces on the membrane surface, preventing cake build-up and fouling. It delivers stable filtration performance for high-viscosity and high-solid feeds, with lower cleaning frequency and operating cost compared with conventional cartridge/bag filtration or plate filtration systems.

Key Features:

Key Feature 1 — Rotational Shear-Enhanced Crossflow

Rotating ceramic disks create strong tangential shear that continuously sweeps the membrane surface, reducing deposition and fouling.

Key Feature 2

Each disk provides filtration on both sides, increasing effective area within the same equipment volume.

Key Feature 3 — High Flux with Lower Energy

Centrifugal action supports separation, reducing dependence on high circulation flow/pressure and lowering pump energy.

Key Feature 4 — Excellent Anti-Fouling Performance

Rotary shear and turbulent flow suppress cake formation, slowing flux decay and extending cleaning intervals.

Key Feature 5 — Hygienic & Chemical-Resistant

Ceramic membranes and stainless wetted parts provide chemical resistance and hygienic operation; CIP compatible.

Key Feature 6 — Integrated Skid Package

Skid includes modules, pump, valves, piping, instrumentation and control cabinet for easy installation and integration.

Process Characteristics:

Under tangential crossflow over rotating disks, shear force minimizes particle accumulation and gel-layer formation. Ceramic membranes with asymmetric filtration layers enable separation from microfiltration to ultrafiltration depending on membrane selection, providing stable flux and long membrane life with reduced cleaning frequency.

Typical Industries and Products:

Food & Beverage: juice clarification, tea/coffee extracts, wine clarification, fermentation-derived ingredients
Chemical: pigment/dye clarification, catalyst recovery, activated carbon removal, polymer dispersion concentration
Biotech & Pharma: fermentation broth clarification, enzyme/protein recovery, intermediates purification
Energy & Environmental: high-COD wastewater polishing, oily wastewater polishing, solvent recovery loops

Working Principle:

Feed slurry is pumped into the skid and distributed to the rotating ceramic disk modules. As disks rotate, liquid flows in a thin layer along the membrane surface. Under transmembrane pressure, permeate passes through the membrane as filtrate, while solids are retained and concentrated in the recirculation loop. The system runs continuously until the target clarification or concentration is reached. Backwash/CIP can be applied when needed to restore permeability.
